Description
Tetra is the common name of many small freshwater characiform fishes. Come from Africa, Central America and South America, belonging to the biological family Characidae.
The Characidae are distinguished from other fish by the presence of a small adipose fin between the dorsal and caudal fins.
Tetras generally have compressed (sometimes deep), fusiform bodies and are typically identifiable by their fins.

Growing up to 7.5 cm (3.0 in) in length, the black tetra has a roughly tetragonal body shape and is greyish in colour, fading from near black at the tail to light at the nose. Two prominent, black, vertical bars appear just posterior to the gills.
It is a schooling fish that feeds fish food and small crustaceans, insects, and worms.
